Tye Was the Guy Last Night in Barrie / Joe Carroll Traded

Tye Kartye was the most popular guy on the Hounds bus last night as it made its’ way to Guelph for tonights’ game between the Storm and Hounds.

In Barrie hours before the bus left town Tye notched three goals assisting the Hounds to a 6-3 win over a top rated team in the Canadian Hockey League. Four power play goals and some solid goaltending were the main factors.

After giving up a 2-0 lead the Dogs were relentless in scoring 4 unanswered goals to take control of the game.

Standouts in my opinion were Robert Calisti who made some really smart plays in the Hounds end, while Cole MacKay played strong with a 4 point night.

In net, I would say that the last two of the Colts markers were shots with heavy traffic in front of the net including one tip in so you can’t really blame Ivanov who made some really good saves when the Hounds were still down 2-0.

Coach Dean showed confidence in Bryce McConnell-Barker by slotting him in on the power play and rewarding him with a chance to score his first OHL game with the cage empty in the final minute of play to which Bryce didn’t disappoint. He ended up with a goal and an assist on the night.

Tonight the Hounds play the Guelph Storm and here is how they match up.

Guelph

Coach George Burnett

General Manager George Burnett

Record 1-1-1 (OT loss)

Up front the Hounds will have to watch out for forwards Jake Karabela (6pts), Braeden Bowman (5pts), and Sasha Pastujov (5pts). Sasha has Team USA U18 experience and had 26 pts in 18 games last year with the US National Development Team. Keep an eye also on Danny Zhilkin who will be a leader and earned a gold medal with Team Canada U18 at the 2021 World Championships.

The Storm like to shoot the puck and on Wednesday they peppered 51 discs of rubber toward the Owen Sound Attack net on route to a 7-3 win.

Soo Greyhounds

Coach John Dean

General Manager Kyle Raftis

Record 2-1

Tonight the Hounds welcome back D man Ryan O’Rourke coming off a suspension while they bid a farewell to overage Joe Carroll who was sent to the Peterborough Petes in exhange for draft picks. You knew it was only a matter of time as the Hounds were carrying 4 OA’s and had to release one.

Tonight, expect Ryan to have a big game, as well Bryce M-B who will be confident after getting the monkey off of his young back with a goal last night even though it was an empty netter. The usual suspects, Kerins, Kartye will be a force and Marc Boudreau is looking good as of late.

In net, if it weren’t for 3 games in 3 nights, Dean would go back to Ivanov, but with the mentioned schedule, Charlie Schenkel will get his first OHL start I believe.

If you want to get out of the house on this Friday night, head down to The Canuck and watch the game which will be streamed for you while you enjoy some fine grub. If you have things to do at home and can’t make it, Skip the Dishes is there for you.

Go Hounds Go !!
