Hounds Play Another Strong Game & Actually Win !!
The Hounds have played many great periods this year with a young and often depleted lineup but have come up short in the win column more nights than not. They have also played some good or even hard nosed great full 60 minutes with the same result as above; but last night they were finally rewarded and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
With the Hounds 3 points behind Kitchener for the final playoff spot and the Rangers debuting a new coach, I knew the Hounds needed this game. The Greyhounds won in the shootout 4-3 and it was a white knuckler for sure as I watched the box scores all night & the Kitchener game was front and foremost. The Hamilton Bulldogs never had a chance and were destroyed 8-1.
If the Hounds would have lost last night it would have been pretty much lights out for the Dogs who would have fallen to 5 points back.
Jordan D’Intinos goal with 1:33 seconds left in the 3rd may be the most important goal this season. Obviously the goals by Mark Duarte and Bryce McConnell-Barker in the shootout were important but Jordan’s goal solidified at least a point.
Super games were had by Charlie Schenkel and one of next years leaders (in my opinion), Connor Clattenburg. This kid plays with an edge and will be dynamite in his second year.
Tomorrow the Hounds are looking to avenge one of Canadas worst tragedies as per the Sarnia Sting. I am sure the kids are still walking with their heads down as the 12-1 shellacking at the hands of the Sting is only 8 days back in the rear view mirror. Let’s hope Sarnia comes in cocky and the Hounds pounce.
