Coach Dean Has Every Right to be Pissed
Not much to say other than the Soo Greyhounds were clearly robbed of at least one point as they lost 3-2 last night at the GFL Memorial Gardens. The game was called by local NOJHL officials as per the “weather event”.
Near the end of the game Brady Martin delivered and finished his check on Nolan Laird and not one of the officials put their hand up. In fact there was an official who was within 6 feet and saw the hit as clear as day. He did not raise a flag………but North Bay coach Ryan Oulahen did and the play was reviewed as the NB player still laid on the ice.
“Hey folks”(as Peter Ruicci would say) and “it’s f**king hockey” (as I would say) and it is a physical game. If you have the puck be prepared to get hit……..it’s part of the game. I watched the replay in real time and then slowed it down (in video below) and after the release of the puck, Martin was in his lean for the hit and he finished it like he should. It was 100% clean.
I am proud of John Dean for his comments post game and if he gets a fine……….well I won’t be surprised because it is a woke world we live in. We can’t criticize anything anymore without a fear of being called everything from an antisemite, homophobe, or a Russian asset.
As John Dean said in his comments……….why couldn’t they fly in OHL officials for the game? Flights from Toronto were landing in the Sault as the Hounds goalie coach made it to town. With a game that brings in millions of dollars for the OHL, teams, and communities, you don’t put inexperienced (at the OHL level) officials in a capacity like this.
I know the officials did their best but I feel they were worried about reprisals and their careers if the NB player had a serious injury. They couldn’t handle the pressure and made the call………….hoping the Hounds could have killed off the penalty, but it was not to be.
Anyway, we’ll see what happens this week to Coach Dean, but John we have your back and so does the organization.
Oh, one more thing…..talk about wokeness; I read Friday I believe of someone asking the mayors office why a “State of Emergency” wasn’t declared for the city with the snowfall………..are you kidding me???? That’s what I call a snowflake.
