You Have to Give Credit Where It’s Do; Raftis and Dean Are Back

3-0 To Start the Season

Yes it is early but there are some things to be excited about. First and foremost is beating the number one rated team last night as they beat the London Knights in a shootout.

I liked the way the kids battled the last three games and played with the same energy that they did pre pandemic.

I really like the way Schenkel is playing as he is showing why is he going to be in the top of the league this year with his goals against average.

I also have to point out that Raftis in my opinion did something he is not customized to do; making a big-ish type of acquisition early in the season. He is generally a GM that banks on his strong drafting abilities.

A couple of weeks ago Kyle added one of the best OA’s out there in Jack Beck. Consider this; in only 45 games last year he tallied 53 points ! Looking at his stats he gets better every year and last night he showed why scoring the winner in the shootout.

In exchange for this trade Ottawa sends over for a 3rd Round Pick in the 2027 OHL Priority Selection and 2nd Round Pick in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection.

With the win last night, the Hounds have two players (Beck/Hayes) in the top five in scoring and Charlie Schenkel has the most wins in the league with 3.

Of course it is early but it is better than struggling in the first handful of games right? Let’s hope this winning trend tattoos confidence in the kids that lasts the season.

I am going to be ordering my Hounds CHL package and look forward to not missing a beat.

Scoring for the Hounds were Jack Beck, Andrew Gibson and Travis Hayes. Charlie stopped all shootout attempts and made 20 saves of 22 shots.
