Hounds Shutout Spirit 3-0/Turning Point for Tynan?

The Hounds redeemed themselves from a loss in Sarnia at the beginning of the road trip and our bringing home 4 points out 6 with the win last night in Saginaw.

Not only did the Hounds manage to move to within 2 points of the division leading Flint Firebirds, but they also may have crested the mountain regarding Tucker Tynan.

Since Tucker was acquired I have mentioned that he has played very well generally speaking but his teammates have let him down on many occasions and that he deserved a better record than he has. Getting that shutout last night may be the turning point with him and team in my opinion. How big are shutouts? ; well with a couple minutes left in the game in Sarnia who had a commanding lead; coach Alan Letang called a timeout to rest his kids in order to help his netminder record his first career shutout. It is that big.

Tynan was also really good the previous night in Flint and in the overtime/shootout. He now has a 2 game winning streak and as modest as that may be; it is definitely something to build on and build on at the right time of year.

Tye Kartye Hounds Record Breaking Goal

From last nights game you need to also highlight the play of rookies Bryce McConnell-Barker (3 SOG) and Landen Hookey (4 SOG)  as well as Kalvyn Watson who is on fire with 6 points in his last two games. Kirill Kudryavstev  (4 SOG) once again showed why the Hounds imported this young Russian and he gets better each and every game.

The season is winding down very quickly and every minute on the ice counts. The Hounds are going to want to finally solve the Windsor Spitfire mystery this weekend as the Spits have 3 games in hand at the time of writing and are only one point behind us.

Like Flint and Windsor; the Hounds control their own destiny and need no excuses coming up and must play Sarnia, Saginaw and Sudbury the same way they would play London or Hamilton. If they can win the majority of those games; the 4 games remaining against Flint and Windsor ( 2 each ) and the outcome will decide their fate.

Update (5:35 pm) I had someone make a comment to me about something I missed last night. I must have been in the kitchen or something but I did not realize coach John Dean had called a timeout with 1:57 seconds left in the game with the Hounds holding a commanding lead of 3-0. These days you never get 3 goals in that time frame aside for a rarity so the chances of the Hounds losing were the same as the Sarnia Sting losing when they had a 4-0 lead last Wednesday when coach Alan Letang called his timeout and the Hounds coaching staff were visibly and verbally pi**ed off.

The commenter made a valid point that it was quite hypocritical and did not show good sportsmanship for the club and organization and then to do the same thing ? is mindboggling. I understand that the Hounds were going to be down 6-4 with the Saginaw goaltender on the bench for the extra attacker as well as a man up due to a Hound penalty but I just wonder if the coach in doing so realized he was doing something that he didn’t think was “good sportsmanlike by a coach” only 4 days prior. Anyway ; I just thought I would update as I like to write fair and impartial and not gloss over and sugarcoat as per the home and the fact that I am a die hard Hounds fan.

On another note; I received a reply (Josh Sweetland/OHL) as per my inquiry into the Tye Kartye franchise breaking goal against Sudbury about a week ago, and although clearly on screen it confirms the goal was over the line with 6 seconds remaining; the league has decided after review that the 8 seconds stands. I can’t for any reason understand that one but that’s life.

Thanks for reading and Go Hounds Go !
